Design

Radian is committed to creating inclusive and sustainable homes and communities, and recognises that good design is an essential element in delivering this.  Design is not just about the style or look of our homes and communities, but it is about them being suitable and fit for purpose, durable and well built as well as attractive.

Earlier this year we prepared our Design Strategy in consultation with our existing and prospective residents, Boards and other stakeholders.  To see this document please click below.

New Home Satisfaction Survey:

All residents are asked to complete a survey soon after they move into a new Radian home asking if they like their home, if it feels safe, and if there are any specific issues on the external areas, the inside space or the way any defects or repairs are handled.

Take the survey here.

Previous survey results are available to view online.

Resident Involvement

Radian recognises the importance of continuous improvement and engagement with residents and communities to create opportunity, sharing experience and considering the design quality of the new homes and communities that we develop.

To do this we offer many opportunities for residents, communities and Radian staff to become involved and influence the development of our new homes and communities.

Local Resident Design Panels:

Our local Resident Design Panels are held quarterly. Each panel has local resident representation and each have been trained and equipped with skills to contribute to the process of undertaking a design review.

The panels regularly visit sites, give consideration to scheme proposals and are kept updated on schemes in development.

Training is given on various design and legislative issues which affect the development of new homes and communities so that they are able to fully contribute to the design process.

Design 'Crits':

We host quarterly Design reviews ('Crits') for all schemes.

'Crits' are undertaken at various stages during the design process.  Members of staff, residents on our design panels and Board members attend to hear the Architect give a short presentation describing the design layout and project objectives.

Comments are welcomed and everyone is given the opportunity to feedback, add ideas and make proposals for change.  Much lively and stimulating discussion takes place and the input from all members of the audience is considered and very welcome.

We feedback the outcomes arising from comments made at an update session at the beginning of the following 'Crit'.

Continuous Improvement:

A continuous improvement group has been established with a membership that includes development staff and residents.  The Group reviews all new home survey results and feedback from resident design panels, Radian Group staff and others, and looks at how we can amend processes and resources to improve the quality of the homes and communities we create.

In response to residents feedback, the Continuous Improvement Group is currently focusing on a set of specific issues in response to comments received.  The current issues being addressed include:

  • External environmental / landscaping issues
  • Defects and repairs
