The South East of England is a region of severe water stress. It has less water available than the rest of England and Wales as well as Spain. Yet each person in the South East of England uses an average of 160 litres per person per day, compared to 150 litres for the rest of England and Wales.
If we use too much water now, soon there will not be enough water available for people in the South East of England, as well as for the environment.
Radian is aware that there are water supply problems. We are keen, and have a responsibility, to find out how best to reduce demand for water. From May 2008, together with the Environment Agency, we have embarked on a two-year water efficiency research project. This study aims to be able to provide recommendations to the public, developers and other interested parties on how best to tackle water efficiency in new build and existing homes.
