Free family festival

Drum Housing and local partners present the second annual multicultural music and dance festival, Culture In The Park (CITP), at Queen Elizabeth Country Park between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday 13th September.

CITP is a completely free event that allows the whole family to hear great music, experience new cultures, take part in fun activities and have a fantastic family day out. Following on from last year’s success, this year’s CITP festival will take place on the Butser Hill side of the A3 and promises plenty of free activities for the whole family.

The festival is once again hosted by the inimitable MC Coco P, who will be injecting the same sense of humour and fun that has been such a big hit at the Notting Hill Carnival. He will be introducing an eclectic celebration of diverse performances throughout the day from professional performance artists and the best up-and-coming local band.

There will also be a heart-warming performance on the main stage by children from across the district. The children have all attended workshops at several venues throughout the local area, which allowed them to experience drumming, urban voice, freestyle football and street dance workshops, as well as Indian, Irish and African dance and the impressive Capoeira dance from Brazil.  

Some of the free activities available include: freestyle football, salsa dancing and drumming workshops. There will also be a huge variety of international foods available, stalls from around the world and plenty of activities to keep even the youngest, and the oldest visitors occupied.

Drum has organised this free community event in partnership with Downland Housing, Kingfisher Housing, Home Housing, Petersfield Housing, A2 Dominion, Swaythling Housing, Communities First, East Hampshire District Council and Hampshire County Council.
