Development procures the development of new homes for affordable rent, intermediate rent and low cost home ownership through its own direct development activity and through partnerships with Local Authorities, external contractors, developers and housebuilders.
We teamed up with Southampton City Council and contractor Drew Smith to deliver the first Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 in Southampton. The Stoneham Cemetery Road scheme is one of the few schemes to reach zero carbon standards in the south of England. It comprises 11 houses for affordable rent, all designed to maximise the use of renewable energy sources and reduce the impact on the environment. There are currently only a small number of properties in England built to Level 6, and this scheme will significantly increase the number of those setting new standards for energy efficiency and sustainability, above the current building regulations.
