A White Christmas Party

windsor_housing_santa_dec_09Residents from Windsor Housing built on the enormous success of last year's Christmas party by hosting a Santa's Grotto which was attended by over 200 children and their families. The event was organised and run entirely by resident volunteers from Windsor's Community Link, a group of residents who work to improve the communities in which Windsor Housing has homes.

Held at Windsor Youth Club, the event offered fun activities for the whole family, including a puppet show, Christmas disco complete with snow machine, hair braiding, henna tattooing, face painting and every child was able to give their Christmas wish list to Santa personally.

The free event was open to all Windsor Housing residents, their families and friends. The feedback from residents after the party was that they really enjoyed the event and how it particularly made a real difference to their Christmas, especially this year in the current financial climate.

windsor_housing_santas_grotto_dec_09The event was funded by Windsor Housing, part of Radian and was organized to encourage a sense of community. Volunteers as young as ten years old helped to staff the free refreshments stall and ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. Stephanie Brown from Old Windsor said: "The kids had a brilliant day and this is an excellent idea for bringing the whole community together. It's really nice to be able to come to a free event where there is so much for the kids to do."

Sahil Khan: "Community Link organised an excellent event and everyone attending had a brilliant time. The puppet show went down a storm with young and old alike. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Community Link volunteers and everyone else who worked so hard to make the day truly brilliant'
