Radian’s four Area Panels were established in late 2010 to give residents a stronger voice! As well as helping improve services for residents, the Panels are an important voice on many other aspects of local housing and community priorities, including improvements to housing stock, development of new homes and issues of design and adaptability.
The majority of members on each Panel are residents. Their focus is on scrutiny of Radian’s local service delivery. As well as monitoring performance, they advise on priorities for action under Radian’s ‘local offer’ and have a ‘life improvement’ budget to spend locally. Panels recruit independent members, including local authority councillors.
Panels cover Radian’s geography, with the exception of the Longwood Park Estate in Slough, where a Community Board fulfils a similar role but with greater powers to manage the service Radian provides to the estate.
Whilst the Panels’ focus is local, representatives from each Panel and the Longwood Park Community Board come together on Radian’s Residents Council which provides a consultative forum where members can share views and provide advice to the Radian Group Combined Board. Linkage with the Board is strengthened through the Combined Board and Residents Council Chairs attending each others’ meetings as observers, and a Combined Board member similarly attending Area Panel meetings.
