Southampton HomeBuy Show

HomesinHants, the government appointed HomeBuy Agent for Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, have launched the latest series of the popular HomeBuy Shows, where potential buyers can find out all they need to know under one roof. The next opportunity to attend these free shows is at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton on Thursday 18th March.

With the number of first-time buyers getting on the property ladder hitting a two-year high during December, the HomeBuy Shows are set to be the most popular and well attended yet. The free event held at the home of Southampton Football Club on Britannia Rd, Southampton, SO14 5FP between 3pm and 7pm, allows prospective buyers the opportunity to discover which affordable homes are currently available in the local area.

Visitors can also discover which government-backed financial schemes they qualify for and can apply for them at the show, as well as taking advantage of a host of legal and housing experts and independent financial advisors that will be available to offer free advice and clarify any concerns with the house buying process. There is even free parking on offer in the stadium car park.

The Southampton show follows on the success of the Basingstoke show last week, where over 200 interested visitors turned up to benefit from the free advice on offer. The next show will be at Fratton Park in Portsmouth on the 25th March, ensuring as many people as possible can benefit from registering with HomesinHants.

Paul, a first time buyer who attended the Basingstoke show last week said, "It was great to be able to talk to several organisations all in the same room - we have so much more choice than we thought! It was so nice that all the advice and entry was free, especially being able to get a free financial assessment there and then."

mark_exterior_smMark Smitham from Waterlooville registered with HomesinHants, after discovering their affordable New Build HomeBuy deals and checked their website www.homesinhants.co.uk to find out what homes were available in his area. Mark, a council worker, was living at home with his parents, whilst trying to save a 20% deposit for a home of his own.

“The government-backed New Build HomeBuy scheme was ideal for me as it meant buying a share in a home and therefore only having to raise a deposit based on the share value, rather than the full market value”.

He discovered Drum Housing’s apartments at The Old Pilots Office in Old Portsmouth, with views overlooking the water to Gunwharf Quays and a short walk to the beach. “The location was so prestigious, I was very happily surprised New Build HomeBuy apartments were available.” Mark says.

Mark purchased a 40% share in his one bedroom apartment, with the combined mortgage and rent (payable on the remaining un-purchased share) costing £700 per month. “I never would have been able to buy in this area, and to rent costs anywhere between £750 and £900 each month. Everyone has been so supportive and helpful through the whole process, and I love living so close to Gunwharf and the beach. It’s so enjoyable that it’s like being on holiday, except I can proudly call this apartment ‘mine’ and wake up to it every day”.
