Hampshire's popular HomeBuy Show is returning to Southampton on Thursday 24th June at The Rose Bowl from 3 - 8pm. Also know as Shared Ownership or part buy/part rent, HomeBuy is proven to be the most cost-effective way for first time buyers to get onto the property ladder. The show offers visitors the opportunity to register for HomeBuy and benefit from free expert advice, as well as learning which government-backed financial schemes they qualify for.
Swaythling Housing Society, part of Radian, is the government-appointed agent for all applicants who are interested in renting or buying a property through one of the various HomeBuy schemes. As the agent for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Swaythling hold HomeBuy Shows across the county to allow new and existing applicants to find out all the information they need about the schemes available, entirely free of charge.
The HomeBuy Show on the Thursday 24th June, at The Rose Bowl, Botley Road, West End Southampton SO30 3XH, will also disclose which affordable houses are currently available across Hampshire, both for sale and for rent. Exhibitors already confirmed include leading housing associations, developers, independent financial advisers and solicitors, who will all be on hand to provide visitors with the complete information needed to get on the housing ladder.
The HomeBuy schemes are available to most first time buyers, those with Keyworker status, as well as those who work but do not have enough equity or income to buy by themselves. Via the New Build HomeBuy scheme, applicants can often purchase from as little as 25% shares in a home, which for a 2 bedroom apartment in Southampton, could be from just £33,000.
After separating from his partner, Sean Moloney from Hedge End, Southampton, thought he would have to move out of the area and away from his children if he wanted to buy a home.
"I wanted to stay in the area due to work, and be able to pick my children up from school or be close in case of emergencies, but didn't think buying a home would be an option for me on a single income" explains Sean.
Sean discovered the HomesinHants website and after a couple of weeks of being registered, he saw Swaythling were offering spacious one bedroom apartments available on a New Build HomeBuy at Oak Tree Place; a new development in Hedge End. These new homes were available to purchase from as little as 25% shares.
"The apartment was so large! The fully fitted kitchen and bathroom were great too, and there was so much storage space. To make things even easier when I moved, I was able to buy all of the show flat furniture too!"
Sean reserved the apartment and found the whole process of buying was very easy, purchasing a 60% share for £69,000. Within two months, he had moved in and now pays under £500 a month.
"It was the most pleasurable move I've ever had. Swaythling Housing took the phrase 'customer care' to a new high".
