Longwood Park, an award winning community in Langley, Slough, has once again ensured their residents celebrate the festive season in style. A large amount of residents from many diverse cultural backgrounds came to see Santa's Grotto and enjoyed carol singing, accompanied by the Salvation Army band. The annual event is provided free of charge and organised by Longwood Park's Community Spirit panel. It epitomises this remarkable community where the day-to-day management of the 352 homes is controlled by the residents themselves. The residents, with the support and funding of Radian, have turned Longwood Park into a community that has won both the prestigious UK Housing Gold Award and the borough's Improvement to the Environment award.
This year the Santa's Grotto was attended by over 60 youngsters who wrote letters to Santa, enjoyed a buffet, met Santa and his elves and even got a present each. The Salvation Army band then struck up to lead an hour's carol singing
Marian Green Chair of the Community Board and resident of Linden House said, "With so many diverse cultures within our community, it was wonderful to see different nationalities all joining in and enjoying themselves. This event definitely promotes Christmas spirit as well as a wonderful sense of Community spirit"
