Some individuals benefit from a short-term stepping stone to more independent living, whilst others may require stable long-term support and security from their support service and home. We realise the needs of our service-users are broad and can be complex, and value a personalised, flexible service. This is why Radian chooses to develop strong links with expert partner agencies to provide suitable supported housing solutions.
We are pleased that our supported housing has enriched the lives of many service users, and many people have moved on to more independent accommodation. We aim to provide a high level of supported housing and never to forget the intrinsic needs of our service-users. We visit and meet with our service users of managed schemes and seek their views on ways to improve our services.
Our carefully chosen partner agencies provide support and care in specialist areas including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental illness, a history of homelessness, refuges for survivors of domestic abuse etc. Radian provides the properties and in many cases these are developed with a specific client group in mind. In all cases our Supported Housing team work closely with partner agencies and monitor the support and management service being provided to residents. Radian only works with support providers that have a proven track record in providing support, and if a care service is also being provided they must be approved by Adult (Social) Services. Some of our partners lease properties from us and others have a management agreement in place (at the managed schemes the service users are Radian's residents, whilst at the leased schemes residents are tenants of the Support Provider). Allocation of our Supported Housing properties is usually managed by the partner agency rather than Radian. Details of the support providers we work with are shown below.
In addition to our established schemes and partnership working, we have worked closely with the Poole, Bournemouth & Dorset Campus Reprovision Project Teams to provide homes for 20 people with physical and learning disabilities. The converted and adapted bungalows allow greater independence whilst still providing the 24 hour care. As well as providing the bungalows and adapted properties, Radian has also employed a designated team member Mary Eltherington to oversee the project and to continue to work with residents, families and support providers to help ensure the properties meet individual needs and expectations.
Some of our schemes are registered care homes and register with the Care Quality Commission. Support providers we work with who provide domiciliary care are also registered with CQC. For more information please visit www.cqc.org.uk
