A Warm Welcome To Leslie Dunne House

Radian’s Leslie Dunne House, a sheltered scheme in Dedworth, invited visitors to attend an Open Day to have a look around the newly refurbished studio flats, meet some of the current residents and to get a feel for what life is like within its friendly and sociable community.

Diane Lynch, Sheltered Scheme Manager, said: “The residents at Leslie Dunne House are a really social group of residents and are really proud of the social activities they co-ordinate here.  We are very grateful that they gave up their Sunday to run this Open Day to encourage new residents to choose to live here.”

The scheme’s very own residents’ social club organises regular activities most days, and were on hand to promote the various events that take place, such as carpet bowls, bingo, coffee mornings, quiz nights and bring & buy sales.  Most recently, residents became part of the Nintendo Wii phenomenon, hosting Wii events to encourage sheltered residents to have fun and stay active.

Radian recently refurbished 11 studio flats at Leslie Dunne House, which are now available for rent.  With a fresh look and feel, they each comprise a new modern kitchen and contemporary bathroom facilities.  Over the years, the apartments had become out-dated but now offer a relaxed, refreshing, comfortable atmosphere.

On the day, visitors were encouraged to look around and see the transformed homes.  Residents organised a raffle with prizes kindly donated from local shops, including a free manicure, face & hand massage, and £20 garden centre vouchers.  Plus, there were opportunities to purchase handmade cards and other items provided by the residents themselves.

A cake had been specially made to mark the occasion and to celebrate the newly refurbished accommodation.   Lee Campbell, Assistant Supported Housing Manager, said: “Leslie Dunne House is a great place to live and Radian’s refurbishment of the studios is to a high specification making the properties look brand new.  We are looking forward to new residents joining this scheme and becoming part of the community spirit.”

There are only a few studio apartments left to rent at Leslie Dunne, if you are interested in one of these properties or want to know about any other support housing, please contact Lynne Huggins or Lee Campbell on 01753 777401 or 01753 777482.
