Penney Poyzer

Penney Poyzer is an author, broadcaster and campaigner on a wide range of green issues. Although best known for her television work, Penney works mainly at grass roots level to promote the role of women and to disseminate practical skills and knowledge to low income communities. She is currently writing her third book on living a sustainable lifestyle.

Penney and her husband Gil Schalom own the Nottingham Ecohome, a radical eco retrofit of a Victorian semi which they began 10 years ago. She lectures extensively on the house which has been acknowledged as a pioneering project and is cited as the most advanced of its kind in many publications

Penney has been working closely with the Muslim community and other faith groups to help overcome barriers of prejudice and to create fully integrated projects across the spectrum of our diverse communities throughout the UK.

Penney is patron and trustee of several green charities and is an adviser and writer for the Environment Agency and other agencies, NGO's, businesses and the education sector. She is a co-Matron with Caroline Lucas MEP of the Women's Environmental Network.

Penney is a mother and grandmother who, in her spare time, loves growing vegetables in her urban permaculture garden, reading, experimenting with low carbon cooking techniques and enjoys a good jam on her guitar with musician friends.
