Sustainability and Innovation Manager, Radian MA, B.Sc(Hons), Dip.BS, MIEnvSc
Paul Ciniglio is employed as Sustainability Manager for the Radian Group. The main focus of his role is to reduce the environmental impact of the housing association’s activities. This primarily relates to an existing housing stock of 17,500 units and a new build programme of up to 1,000 units per annum.
He has worked in a variety of roles in the construction industry for 27 years. He has a diploma and a first class Bachelor of Science honours degree in Building Surveying, a Master of Arts in Sustainable Development and is a member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences. Paul is a consultant to the eco-housing theme lead in the Whitehill Bordon eco-town, near where he grew up, for a period of 2 years. He is vice chairman of the Building Research Establishment’s Housing Group steering committee and has been a guest lecturer in sustainability at Kingston and Portsmouth Universities.
Paul’s leading approach resulted in Radian winning The Housing Corporation’s ‘Gold’ award for excellence in environmental sustainability in 2007, SEREA renewable energy awards in 2005 & 2007, Inside Housing’s ‘Sustainable housing provider of the year – Innovative approach to green housing’ award 2009 and ‘Sustain magazines energy award’ in 2010. Paul has recently retrofitted his own home ‘Sunpower CO2ttage’ to an exemplar energy efficiency C80 standard and regularly opens it up to the public as part of SEA’s ‘Old Home Super Home’ network with over 300 visitors in the first year.
Presentation Synopsis
Predominantly Paul will be looking at the strategy for the reduction of carbon emissions at the Borough Grove, Petersfield project. In addition he will be looking more generally at the Photo voltaic retrofit programme and he will give an update on his own home – 'Sun Power Co2ttage which is part of the wider 'Old Home Super Home'.
This was a 'must attend' FREE event for anyone involved in the housing or construction sector be it in: planning, regulation, policy, financing, maintenance, refurbishment or managing housing stock.
