Whether you are looking to increase your confidence, learn a new skill or gain a qualification in a work-related area, the Employment Support and Training team can help find relevant training near you and in some circumstances may be able to assist with funding.

Having supported over 2000 residents with their training needs, our team has developed excellent partnerships with local colleges and training providers and have an extensive knowledge of the huge variety of courses out there. Current Training Courses

Business Administration Skills 

Basingstoke
9.30am – 3pm
24th February – 6th March (2 week course)
Learn what is required by employers in an office-based role including managing information, communicating in the workplace, diary management, events organisation, reception duties and more.  Gain a level 2 certificate in the Principals of Business Administration.

Introduction to Construction: Multi – trades

Various locations across Hampshire – regular dates.  Courses typically 2 weeks in duration
Course covers; Brick & Joinery, woodwork, plumbing, roofing, surveying/setting out, guttering, plastering, working from height, COSH

Introduction to Construction: Heavy Plant

Various locations across Hampshire – regular dates.  Courses typically 2 weeks in duration
Course covers; Groundworks (asphalt), excavation, electrical HEA, streetlights, block paving, road marking, spill kit

Introduction to Construction: Highways/Civil Engineering

Various locations across Hampshire – regular dates.  Courses typically 2 weeks in duration
Course covers; Signaller, Telehandler, Forward Tip Dumper, Ride on roller, 360 Excavator, Abrasive wheels, MEWPS

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Training 

Slough and Hillingdon – 3 day course – Runs every fortnight
Fully funded for 16-26 year olds

Starting Computers very gently 

Eastleigh
Times tbc
Starts 30th January
Includes – Learn to use the internet to job search, Microsoft Word, send, receive and forward emails, attach documents to emails

Intermediate IT  

Andover
9.30am – 2.30pm
Starts 3rd February (for 4 weeks)
Includes – Getting the most from the internet, mobile devices and tablets, document formatting techniques and using spreadsheets to organise your finance ,schedule or plans.

Functional Skills IT  

Andover
9.30am – 2.30pm
Starts 14th February (for 11 weeks)
For people who would like to update their computing knowledge and gain a qualification at level 1 or 2. Prior experience of Microsoft Office is required for this course.

Customer Service Skills 

Basingstoke
9.30am – 2.30pm
24th February – 3rd March (7 day course)
Includes – Reception skills, business communication, professional behaviour in an office environment, handling telephone calls and effective relationships with customers and colleagues.  Gain a level 1 qualification in customer service.

Get Work Ready 

Southampton
11am – 1pm
12th February
This course will help you prepare for finding work and job interviews

EmployAbility @ Cafe 1759

This one day course covers emergency life saving techniques and confidence of what to do in an emergency situation.

Food Safety

13th February 2020
This course will help you when applying for jobs in the catering industry and give you some practical experience in food preparation.

Health and Safety

9.00am- 4.00pm
14th March
This course will provide knowledge of health and safety within the workplace.

Security Industry Skills

Basingstoke
9am – 3.30pm
9th – 20th March (2 week course)
As part of this course, you will have the chance to gain a wide range of employment skills alongside studying a qualification in door supervision and CCTV operatives.  This course is suitable for those wishing to work at pubs, festivals and shopping centres as security guards or CCTV operatives.

 

Warehouse Skills  

Basingstoke
9.00am – 3.30pm
24th – 28th February
Learn about the management of shipments within a warehouse and gain a level 1 qualification.
