Hatch Farm Photo For Release FConstruction is underway at Hatch Farm in West End, where 98 new homes, including 35 affordable properties, are being delivered in partnership between Eastleigh Borough Council, housing provider Radian and Southampton-based construction business Drew Smith.

Located in West End to the south of the M27, Hatch Farm was identified for development by Eastleigh Borough Council within its local plan 2011-2029, before Radian secured full planning approval for the site in June.

Drew Smith, part of regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships, is the development partner building the new scheme.

The new development will include a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, including bungalows, available for affordable rent, shared ownership and open market sale. It will also deliver additional benefits to the immediate area, including woodland extensions, improved pedestrian access links to adjacent recreational areas, a new public skate park and enhanced open space areas.

Councillor Keith House, Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council, said:

“This is an exciting development working in partnership with Radian at Hatch Farm. It will provide much needed homes for market rent and affordable rent alongside homes for sale. This mix of tenures will help reduce our housing waiting list and assist in meeting the shortfall in housing across the borough.”

Mick Sweeney, Chief Executive of Radian, said:

“We are committed to doing everything we can to provide more high-quality homes for the people who need them. Hatch Farm is a good example of the high-quality results that can be achieved through quality partnership working. Radian is now expanding its development programme and will be looking to deliver more homes across all tenures and improve our offering for local people.”

Stuart Munro, Managing Director of Drew Smith, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Radian and Eastleigh Borough Council on this project in Southampton. We are passionate about regenerating areas to create sustainable and vibrant new communities and we have a strong track record of working in partnership with a range of councils and Registered Providers.”

It is expected that the first homes will be completed in summer 2018, with the development set to be completed by January 2020.
