Local MP Conor Burns joined the launch celebrations of the 113 high quality new apartments and multi-storey car parking including 155 public spaces at Berry Court in Bournemouth.
Conor Burns MP said, “It was a pleasure to be asked to cut the ribbon to open this stunning development. The flats are of a very high standard and in a superb location. This is exactly the type of development we need to see more of nationally to address the supply of homes to rent.”
The £27m development on St. Peters Road is close to the town centre and less than a 10 minute walk to the beachfront. It was built for housing provider Radian by Bournemouth Development Company; a public-private partnership between Bournemouth Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments Ltd. Construction was by Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure.
Guests were given an exclusive tour of the apartments, before Radian’s Executive Director of Operations; Peter Evans officially received the keys.
Peter Evans, Executive Director of Operations, Radian Group said “We’re delighted to be able to take ownership. Berry Court is Radian’s flagship private rented sector development and is part of our commitment to provide homes of all tenures for all ages, giving people the choice and flexibility they need. It’s been a pleasure working with Bournemouth Development Company and I hope we have the opportunity again. The apartments have proved very popular and we’ve only a few remaining.”
John Beesley, Leader of Bournemouth Borough Council said: “It is great to see high quality new homes being delivered at Berry Court. The Council is committed to delivering much needed private rented new homes in Bournemouth which will make an important contribution to regeneration and securing long-term economic growth.”
Duncan Johnston, Development Director of Bournemouth Development Company added: “We are very proud of what we have delivered at Berry Court. This has been a prime example of true team work from the early inception of the design team through to building the partnership with Radian and, finally, delivery through the contractor.”
Jon Daines, Area Director at Morgan Sindall, said: “We’re delighted to have delivered this landmark scheme, which will help to revitalise housing stock and provide much-needed new parking facilities in Bournemouth. During construction we were able to engage with the local community – predominantly sourcing our supply chain from the local area and boosting regional employment.
