It’s great to see Radian has been acknowledged in Inside Housing’s Top 50 Biggest Builders 2019. We’ve built almost 500 social rent, affordable rent and low-cost ownership homes in the past year, a figure that will continue to rise in the future.
This year’s Top 50 developing housing associations built just over 38,000 homes across all tenures and we’re delighted to be contributing to this figure. Having completed 666 homes this year, we’re well on our way to achieving our goal to build 3,500 homes by 2023.
We’ve got some exciting developments currently being built or in the pipeline including:
- 650 home Pease Pottage development in partnership with Thakeham
- Recently announced joint venture with Linden Homes to deliver 120 new homes at Sayers Common in West Sussex
- 80 Shared Ownership homes currently being built in Lee-on-the-Solent as part of the Daedalus Village development in partnership with Wates Residential
Building at scale while retaining the highest quality design and delivery across all tenures remains our focus. The 169 market sale and private rent homes built in 2018/19 will help to fund our developments and keep this goal sustainable.
There is certainly more work to be done across the sector to reach the 300,000 homes a year target, but we are definitely heading in the right direction.
