In response to the national emergency we now face, we have joined hundreds of other businesses in a global initiative to help the most vulnerable people pull through Covid-19 by signing the UK’s official business pledge.
Created by former UK Cabinet Minister, RT Hon Justine Greening and entrepreneur David Harrison, the C-19 Business Pledge asks organisations across the country to commit to supporting their colleagues, customers and communities during – and after – this crisis. We are proud to be part of this enterprise.
Managing Director of Community Services, Michelle Dawson, said:
“We are proud to be part of the C-19 Business Pledge, joining other organisations in committing to tackling the effect of this crisis. We are dedicated to offering the right support to our customers and our colleagues to ensure that everyone receives what they need now, and in the future.”
We join Everton Football Club, Vistry Group, Kings College and Konica Minolta, plus many more, in committing to support those in need now and in the future. By signing up to this pledge, we have:
– Committed to supporting our colleagues both financially and personally
– Pledged to support communities with practical resources such as food deliveries
– Agreed to publish clear and simple advice for customers
Justine Greening said: “With the future of many employers hanging in the balance and incredibly tough times unfolding across all sectors, businesses face many incredibly difficult decisions.
“But those organisations who are able to, can have a huge role in battling the impact of coronavirus and make a real difference in these uniquely challenging times.
“In spite of everything, we are seeing a global response from hundreds of employers that have already shown amazing initiative and commitment to helping people affected by coronavirus. The C-19 Business Pledge is all about encouraging as many businesses and universities as possible to get involved and then helping them do that faster and better by sharing all the great work that’s already been done. The early response has been incredible and I’ll do everything I can to help to connect up business to play its role in this international effort.”
We have already shown our commitment to these areas by directly supporting vulnerable and isolated families, protecting the wellbeing of our colleagues with tailored support and upping our communication to customers.
In just a matter of weeks we have provided more than 600 meals to families across its geography, made a commitment to halt any action against customers who find themselves unable to pay their rent, and provided funding to support services. This action will only continue to grow in the coming weeks.
